Looks nice!
youre wrong about the black pixels though: it actually requires more power to make the pixels black: the lightemission has to be decreased a lot.
so actually 50% grey would be the most energy-friendly :P

oh and btw: i cant see any black pixel in this wallpaper, just a brown-ish color.. maybe you have your contrast too high?
